We meet every week in Lerwick — all levels welcome, from first-time players to seasoned hands. Bring your fiddle and a tune.

The society year

How a typical season unfolds, from the first autumn sessions to the summer festival trips.

1

Weekly sessions begin

Sessions resume in Lerwick each autumn, with slow groups for learners and full tune sets for the experienced.

2

Winter tune-learning

Through the dark months we work through tunes from the archive, sharing transcriptions and Shetland bowings.

3

Spring concert

Members come together for an evening of Shetland and Norse-rooted tunes for the wider community.

4

Summer festival trips

We travel to folk festivals across the UK and Scandinavia to play, listen and meet fellow fiddlers.
